Custom Email Addresses: What You Need to Know

A custom email address, like info@yourdomain.com, can make your organization look more professional and give volunteers a central location for messages. Unlike free addresses from Gmail or Yahoo, a custom email is connected to a domain you own. ๐ŸŒ

Important Information for Getting Started

While Jersey Watch doesnโ€™t currently provide email hosting, our team can help ensure your custom email address works if your domain is managed through us!

If your organization is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit, Google Workspace offers a program for free custom emails: Google Workspace for Nonprofits ๐ŸŽ‰. For other organizations, custom emails usually come at an additional cost, so many choose free services like Gmail or Yahoo.

Moving Forward with Custom Email Setup

If you decide to move forward with a custom email address and your domain is managed by us, follow these steps:

  1. Set up an account with Google Workspace
  2. Input information about your organization
  3. On the "Choose a way to set up your account" page, select "Set up your existing domain", and input the domain used for your website with us.
  4. Set up a username and password for your primary admin. This will also be your new email address (like username@yourbusiness.com)!
  5. Select a plan with Google Workspace
  6. Our Support Team will handle the domain ownership verification. Please send an email to help@jerseywatch.com with the directions and records copied and pasted into the body.

Once the needed records have been added and verified by Google Workspace, you'll be all set to start using your new, custom email address.
