How to Change Ownership of Your Stripe Account
The person who sets up your organization's Stripe account is considered the sole Stripe Account Owner. It's very important that the person assigned to this role is involved with your organization as Stripe will often times require that future information is submitted to keep your account in good standing. Stripe's policies also require that their Support Team will only communicate with the Account Owner.
If you need to update your Account Owner, you can follow these steps:
Step #1: Identify the Current Stripe Account Owner
If you don't already know who created your organization's Stripe account, please send an email to help@jerseywatch.com. Our team will be able to identify the email address associated with the owner's account.
Step #2: Have the Current Owner Log Into Their Account
Using their credentials, they can follow this link to sign into their account > https://dashboard.stripe.com/login.
Step #3: Determine Who the New Account Owner Should Be
There are a number of ways that the current owner of a Stripe account can transfer ownership to someone else. The process to transfer ownership depends on who the new owner is and their account status. Please select from one of the following for directions:
- Option 1: Transfer account ownership to an existing Administrator
- Option 2: Transfer account ownership to a current user on the account who does not have Administrator permissions
- Option 3: Transfer ownership to an individual who does not yet have any access to the Stripe account
Important Note
Only the current owner of a Stripe account can transfer ownership away from themselves. If that person is no longer with your organization, reach out to Stripe Support for help. Stripe will require a lot of documentation for this to occur so we'd first recommend attempting steps #1 through #3.
