How to Connect a Bank Account with Stripe

To begin collecting payments online, you’ll need to connect your bank account through Stripe. Stripe is a secure payment processor separate from Jersey Watch, so you’ll be asked to create an account and provide some details about your organization. This process usually takes less than 10 minutes.

Step 1: Click the Connect Bank Account

Once you've created your first program that has a cost associated with it, a blue banner will appear on your Dashboard and Program page. Click the Connect Bank Account button to get started.

Step 2: Create Your Stripe Account

You’ll set up your account email and password. By default, the email from your Jersey Watch admin account will auto-fill, but you can change it. Be sure to use an email address you check frequently.

Step 3: Set Up Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)

Stripe requires 2FA for security. You can:

✅ Use an authenticator app (scan a QR code)

✅ Verify with a phone number

✅  Use a security key

Stripe will provide an emergency backup code - be sure to save it in a secure place.

Step 4: Enter Business Location and Type

Next, you will be asked to select a business type. There are three options: Nonprofit Organization, Individual and Company. 💡 Unsure which business type your sports organization falls into? Refer to our guide: How to Choose a Business Type.

Step 5 + 6: Provide Business and/or Personal Details

Details here will depend on the type of business you selected in the previous step.

✅ Nonprofit Organization / Company: Legal business name (exactly as it appears on IRS documents), Employer Identification Number, Business Address and Phone Number and Website. You will also have an additional step where you provide information about yourself as the business representative. This includes your name, email address, DOB and last four digits of SSN.

✅ Individual: Legal Name, Email Address, DOB, Home Address, Phone Number and last four digits of SSN.

Step 7: Connect a Bank Account

You can select from an online banking institution or you can enter in your account and routing number manually. Please note that you can only connect a checking account.

Step 8: Confirm Public Details

These details will show on your customer's statements and can help prevent confusion and disputes.

Step 9: Review and Submit

Before completing setup, review all information carefully. Accurate details will help avoid payout delays or account restrictions.
